Almost time to get started!

It’s not long now until you start your new job at Alliander. We are very happy you are joining us. Welcome!

This page tells you what you need to do before your starting date to make sure you are well prepared when you start your new job. Here you will also find welcome videos, handy guides and practical information about working at Alliander.

All sorted?

Make sure you have provided us with the following before you start

  • Your account number
  • A copy of your passport or ID card
  • A copy of your diploma/certificate
  • A wage tax statement (‘loonbelastingverklaring’)

If you have not already given us this information, make sure you do so before your first working day in Workday, our HR system. We have already sent your user name and password to the email address we have for you. In the Preboarding Handbook you can read about what you need to do and how this works.

Do you have any questions about this? If so, please send an email to instroom@alliander.com.

Laptop, telephone, tablet

Have we already sent equipment, such as a laptop, telephone and/or tablet, to your home address? If so, remember to bring them with you on your first working day!

Something missing?
If you have not received all the equipment you will need for your work, please contact your manager as soon as possible.

Are you carrying out a temporary assignment for Alliander? If so, you may not receive a laptop, tablet or telephone from Alliander and in most cases will use your own equipment. Has it been agreed that you will receive devices from us? In that case, from your starting date you can pick up a welcome pack from the IT service desk.

Setting your password

To install your devices, you will need to choose a password. Take a look at our requirements for a strong password

  • Your password must be a minimum of 15 characters long.
  • Your password must not be on the block list. The block list includes passwords that have become known as a result of previous breaches, as well as predictable, popular and repetitive sequential character strings, such as ‘aaaaaa’ and ‘1234abcd’, the names Liander, Qirion, Firan, ENTRNCE and Alliander, all months and all seasons.
  • We recommend that you use capital letters, numbers, symbols and other characters, but this is not compulsory.
  • You may also use spaces in your password. That means you can decide to choose a passphrase.
  • Make sure that you can remember your password easily, but it would be difficult for another person to guess. It could be something silly, for example, or something that means something special to you.
  • Make sure that your password is unique and that you do not use the same password anywhere else.

A few examples of passwords:

  • “Pineapple has no place on pizza”
  • “I want a wall-to-wall carpet on my head”
  • “Itschipsnotfrenchfries”

Employment conditions

  • First salary

Alliander will pay your salary on the 15th of the month. If the 15th of the month falls at the weekend, it will be paid on the Friday before.   If your employment formalities have not been completed before the first of the month or if you started work after the 10th of the month, you will receive that part of your salary with your salary for the following month.

  • IEB (Individual Elective Budget) and SE (Sustainable Employability) Budget

At Alliander you put together an employment benefits package that suits you. To allow you to do this, each year, in addition to your salary, you will receive a budget of 18% of your gross annual salary. If you are working part-time, the budget will amount to 12.8% of your salary. We call this the Individual Elective Budget (IEB).

You can use your IEB to:

    • receive additional salary each month, by having the IEB paid out monthly
    • buy extra leave
    • pay out your holiday pay
    • supplement your income if you take parental leave
    • pay for a bicycle or your trade union contribution (with tax benefits)
    • pay extra money into your pension

In addition, you will also receive a Sustainable Employability Budget of €500 per year.  You can use this, for example, to pay for furniture for homeworking that meets occupational health and safety standards, a sports subscription, a course, training programme or workshop, career coaching, activities linked to vitality or development, and much more.

  • Parental leave

Besides the standard leave arrangements, you can also make use of supplementary partner’s leave (following the birth of a child) and parental leave.
You can request partner’s and parental leave yourself once you have started work, via the HR and IT Service Portal.
If you have also taken partner’s or parental leave for the same child at your previous employer, please include a statement from your previous employer with your application, detailing how many hours you have taken.

  • Group health insurance

As an Alliander employee you can benefit from group health insurance with Zilveren Kruis. There is a charge for applying for a VOG. You can claim these expenses back once you have started work.

You can choose to receive your VOG digitally or by post. We prefer a digital VOG, with sustainability, speed and security in mind. Your VOG will be sent to you after you have made your application. For our records we require the original document so that we can check the authenticity features.

    • If you have opted for a digital VOG, please email this to instroom@alliander.com.
    • If you have opted for a paper VOG, please send this document (not a copy) by (internal) post to:

Alternatively, you can deliver the VOG to the intray of HR Services (P271) at Bellevue, our office in Arnhem. You will find it on the ground floor at the Facilities and IT Service Desk.

  • Why is screening necessary?

With our social duty and responsibility in mind, at Alliander we maintain a constant focus on excluding, as far as possible, any (unacceptable) risks that could cause a disruption to the energy supply within our society. That is why we ask all new employees to provide a VOG.

  • Additional screening

Certain roles require additional or in-depth screening. The recruiter will contact you if this applies to you and will be able to give you further information about the in-depth screening process.
